Consider 21st century thinking and learning: creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and communication, Drama organically fits into all four categories.

The aim of taking Drama is not necessarily to become an actress or director but to rather open ones’ perspective and ideas about the world and to develop the self-confidence to express ideas so that others will listen.

At Sacred Heart we are passionate about original work. We promote young voices and provide them with opportunities and platforms to create; such as The Matric Original Plays Festival in March; The Manhattan Theatre Club’s Theatre Link Playwriting and Production collaboration in May, which links us with schools around the world and FEDA (Festival of Excellence in Dramatic Arts) a Johannesburg based Drama festival.

We also have a highly skilled, student-run, backstage and technical department that supports the many productions during the year. These students receive training throughout the year on lighting and sound design, thus creating further avenues for developing the students’ skills in the field.
