MOP Fest – Friday Night

Sacred Heart College’s Drama Department presents the Matric Original Productions 2024 Fest!

Welcome to the heart of creativity, innovation, and boundless imagination. Since its inception in 2016, this festival has stood as a beacon of artistic expression, showcasing the remarkable theatrical prowess nurtured within the walls of Sacred Heart College.

At MOPFest this year, we witness the magic of storytelling come to life as five original plays take centre stage, each a testament to the ingenuity and vision of our Grade 12 Directors. This journey spans three months from conception to performance, filled with tireless rehearsals, countless revisions, and unwavering determination.

But MOPFest is not just about the spotlight on stage; it’s a testament to the power of collaboration and community. Our Grade 10 to 12 student actors breathe life into these narratives, infusing them with emotion, depth, and authenticity. Behind the scenes, our dedicated backstage crew, comprising equally talented students, orchestrate the technical marvels of lighting and sound, ensuring every moment resonates with theatrical brilliance.

As we bask in the brilliance of these original works, let us also recognise the broader impact of MOPFest. The top two plays have the opportunity to represent Sacred Heart College at the Festival of Excellence in Dramatic Arts (FEDA), where they share the stage with sixty productions from schools across Gauteng. This festival serves as a platform for our students to shine and a testament to the rich tapestry of creativity woven throughout our community.

Furthermore, MOPFest stands as an annual beacon of hope, a beacon of change. It serves as a vital fundraiser for our drama programme, with all proceeds dedicated to upgrading our hall’s lights and sound systems, ensuring future generations continue to have the tools they need to bring their visions to life.
