Protocols protect the integrity of the people and processes at play within the school.

Therefore, they must be engulfed within a climate of trust and the belief that everyone will work in the best interests of the child.

School protocols are based on a number of foundational beliefs that are articulated in a number of policies and documents.

The Vision and Mission articulates the school’s value system and must be assimilated by all staff, parents and children. The articulation/living out of the Vision and Mission is through the machinery of the Ethos and Pastoral Care structures and programmes at work throughout the College. The Code of Conduct articulates the expectations around children’s behaviour. All children need structure and boundaries to feel safe and secure. This is essential for learning to take place. The greater the synergy between family values and school expectations and values, the greater the chance of success for a child. The Code of Conduct also articulates how the school deals with infringements.

The synergy we strive for is best articulated in the Partnership Document.

Conflict is part of the human condition and is managed in many ways but primarily through:
· Fight – the respondent retaliates
· Flight – the respondent flees from the conflict
· Resolve – at the College, we prefer to find a solution together that involves the processes of restorative justice.

In an attempt to improve communication, and minimize the opportunities for conflict, we request that parents familiarize themselves with the content of the excerpts on page 3 which are taken from the documents mentioned above. The philosophy that underpins all that we do at the College can be found in the documents listed above and we request that all parents take the necessary time to read them as per the signed agreement you have with the school.
Page 12 of the diary gives clear guidelines to parents on who to go to with the different concerns you may have. Please follow these guidelines before resorting to discussions on the WhatsApp groups.
