Our Open Day at Sacred Heart College presented a wide variety of academic, cultural and sporting activities to entertain our visitors. In addition to all the action our Head of College, Heather Blanckensee, shared words of wisdom on “ Are you ready for a teenager?” Subsequently Dr Mark Potterton, our Pre-Primary and Primary School Principal, shared his latest research insights on “Finding yourself at school”. It was wonderful to have so many prospective parents engaging and connecting with staff and students. Thank you to everyone who supported our Open Day, it was an amazing and memorable morning.
Remembrance Sunday is a day to commemorate the contribution of military and civilian servicemen and women that dedicated their lives to fighting in different wars. Every year on the 14th of November, the city of Johannesburg holds a service at the Cenotaph where representatives and ambassadors of different armies worldwide are given the opportunity to lay a wreath in remembrance of those who survived and those who lost their lives during war. Grade 11 student, Shumikazi Radebe who is the Speaker of the House for the Johannesburg Student Council participated in this event by laying a wreath.
As our grade 12’s neared the end of their school journey with us, they held a fund raiser and gifted the school with a flag, picnic set and a contribution to the Alumni Fund. The Honours Boards purchased by the parents of the matrics were unveiled. We will celebrate your successes and look forward to hearing about the great things that you will be doing.
Our annual golf day took place on Friday, 5 November at the Observatory Golf course. The golfers enjoyed a fabulous day on a beautiful, sunny day clad in their Sacred Heart golf shirts. The senior Marimba wowed the golfers with their musical talent.
Thank you to our sponsor, Liberty and to our generous parents, sponsors and golfers for helping us raise funds for our Scholarship programme.
