Divanth Naidoo

Alumni Job shadow Workshop

My name is Divanth Naidoo. I am a social media manager at OMM – Online Media Management.

I matriculated in 2018 and went on to study a BA in Strategic Brand Communications at Vega School of Brand Leadership.

I shadowed at Ogilvy & Mather in January 2019 before solidifying my degree to study.

Job shadowing allowed me to broaden my perceptions of  the advertising industry in South Africa, the different careers, people, the environment of a typical agency and how my creative talent will be nurtured and valued.

“I am really excited to give students an insight into the advertising and social media industry”  – Divanth Naidoo, Social Media Manager

Maggie Lee

Alumni Job shadow Workshop

My name is Maggie, although some people address me as Dr Lee I still prefer being called by my name. I do not believe that a title of the person defines who they are, I became a Doctor not because I wanted the title. I became a Vet because I had a dream, a dream where I can educate people regarding their animal’s health and help them when their animals are ill. I believe if I can help animals live a long and healthy life, then I can provide long term happiness in people’s lives. My favourite phrase from Simon Sinek- “Everyone has a WHY. Do you know yours?”. The why is the purpose, cause or belief that drives every one of us. For now, I have found mine and I would like to share my experience on how I found it. Maybe you will find yours one day through job shadowing.

Shivan Mansingh

Alumni Job shadow Workshop

Our alumnus, Shivan Mansingh, was one of our keynote speakers. Shivan, a chartered accountant, matriculated in 2003 and holds an MBA which he completed in 2018. As the successful Group Chief Finance Officer and Executive Director at Metrofile, one of the largest data-storage companies in Southern Africa and internationally, he attributes a large part of his success to the College’s excellent education and highly skilled teachers. “My time at Sacred Heart College also taught me the importance of humility and what it means to be grounded. The diversity of students and teachers contributed to this. I thought this was a normal part of an independent school education until I met peers from other independent schools and realized that this was what made Sacred Heart College distinctive.” said Mr Shivan Mansingh. He also repeatedly encouraged students to do extensive research before choosing a career path and making life-changing decisions.

Job shadowing allows students to get first-hand exposure to careers they are interested in pursuing, by engaging with volunteers from various fields. Sacred Heart College hosted a job shadowing workshop with some of our alumni. Eleven Sacred Heart College alumni were part of the workshop which allowed Grade 11 students to engage with the world of work and see that a career is much more than a qualification. This job shadowing workshop, which has a 12-year history, is an exciting partnership between our alumni and Sacred Heart College.
